The Darkness
The
Darkness'
long-awaited, much-anticipated début album, 'Permission
To Land' was released on
Monday 7 July
through Must Destroy
Music/Atlantic
Records and immediately shot to
#2
in the UK Top 40,
sandwiched between
Beyoncé and
Delta Goodrem.
Featuring the singles 'Growing
On Me' and 'Get
Your Hands Off My Woman', it
moved
Kerrang! to
dub them "the
greatest rock'n'roll band of the last twenty years".
The Darkness
are currently the most talked-about rock band in Britain. The past
year has seen them cementing their reputation as one of the hardest
working (and hardest rocking) bands in the country, with live
appearances the length and breadth of Britain, and in Los Angeles and
Austin in the US of A.
The band
completed a headline tour of the UK in April – culminating with them
'rocking the fuck out of the stage' at a sold-out Astoria – and are
spending the summer on the road, with high-profile support slots and
festival appearances throughout Europe; before touring the UK again in
October. Check the
NEWS section for the
latest updates, and the
LIVE section for tour and
ticket information.
2002 saw
the press realising what the kids had known all along – the band have
appeared on the cover of Britain's biggest-selling music weekly
Kerrang!, not to mention
Bang,
Classic Rock,
Dazed&Confused,
Metal Hammer,
Rock Sound,
The Fly,
Trash and
X-Ray.
