BON JOVI'S "HAVE A NICE DAY" ALBUM IS FIRST WORLDWIDE
DUALDISC RELEASE FROM UNIVERSAL MUSIC GROUP
LONDON, September 19, 2005 -
The multi-platinum, multi-decade career of rock superstars Bon Jovi
will soon include a new milestone: Have A Nice Day, the band's
forthcoming ninth studio album, will be the first worldwide DualDisc
release from the Universal Music Group. Previously, DualDisc titles
from UMG - the world's leading record company - have only been issued
in North America.
Have A Nice Day will be released worldwide by UMG's Island/Mercury
Records on September 19 in simultaneous CD and DualDisc
configurations. The album was co-produced by John Shanks (honoured in
2005 by America's Grammy awards as Producer of the Year), Jon Bon Jovi
and Richie Sambora.
DualDiscs are a new entertainment product combining music, film and
video on a single, two-sided disc. The format offers both a CD side and
a DVD side, allowing artists an exciting new way to offer audio, video
and computer content to music consumers. The discs can be played in
existing DVD and DVD hardware devices, such as DVD players, car
stereos, PCs, game consoles and CD players.
The CD side of every DualDisc contains a full-length audio album,
while the video side offers DVD content which can include enhanced
stereo album audio, 5.1 surround sound, music videos, artist
interviews, behind-the-scenes footage, documentary films, EPKs, photo
galleries, lyrics, computer-ready digital song files, and web links.
In North America, Universal Music Group titles also available in the
DualDisc format include Nine Inch Nails' The Downward Spiral, Diana
Krall's The Girl in the Other Room, Jamie Cullum's Twentysomething and
Keane's Hopes and Fears.
The DualDisc release of Have A Nice Day will offer the full-length
stereo version of the album on the CD side, while the DVD side
contains a 5.1 surround sound mix of the album, together with
exclusive live tracks from Bon Jovi's November 2004 concert in
Atlantic City, a photo gallery and electronic press kit. The release
of Have A Nice Day follows the success of last year's 100,000,000 Bon
Jovi Fans Can't Be Wrong, a boxed set comprised largely of previously
unissued recordings from the band's vast archive.
Universal Music Group is expected to release further titles
internationally in the DualDisc format. Bon Jovi's landmark 1986
album, Slippery When Wet, will be released in the U.S. as a DualDisc
at the same time as Have A Nice Day. This will offer the original
album in stereo on the CD side and in 5.1 Surround Sound and
high-resolution stereo on the DVD side. The latter also includes the
music videos for "You Give Love A Bad Name," "Livin' On A Prayer,"
"Wanted Dead Or Alive," "Never Say Goodbye" and "Wild In The Streets."
Bon Jovi has sold more than 100 million units worldwide during its
20-plus years, and performed more than 2,500 concerts in 50 countries
for more than 30 million fans.
