Akon
captures #1 and #2 on Billboard's Hot 100
Universal Motown’s Akon scored his
first No. 1 hit on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart this week.
"I Wanna Love You" ft Snoop Dogg catapulted up the chart thanks to the
combined power of radio airplay and digital downloads.

Akon’s other track, "Smack That" featuring Eminem, holds at No. 2 on
the chart, making him first male artist in more than two years to
occupy the top two slots of The Billboard Hot 100.
"Smack That" also jumped to No.1 on Billboard’s top European singles
and debuted at No.1 in the UK last week.
In addition to his double success on the
Hot 100, Akon’s album Konvicted, on which he wrote and
produced all but one of the tracks, debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard
200. Following up his triple platinum debut, first-week sales of
Konvicted reached 284,000 copies.
Akon is also making waves in the digital
realm. He is the #1 Hip Hop/Rap artist on both iTunes and MySpace, and
